13th edition of children’s theatre festival ends today

The curtain will fall on the seven-day theatre festival titled ‘ 13th National Children-Youth Theatre Festival’ today at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the city. The festival began on May 6 that featured a number of children’s plays.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki as chief guest will attend the closing ceremony today, while BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky and Cultural Affairs Secretary Begum Akhtari Momtaz will also be present on the occasion.
Arranged by People’s Theatre Association (PTA), in association with BSA, like the previous days, the concluding of the festival is simultaneously taking place at four venues of the academy--National Theatre Hall, Experimental Theatre Hall, Studio Theatre Hall and National Music and dance auditorium of BSA. As part of the event, nine plays are being staged today evening. The festival has been participated by a total of 65 theatre troupes both professional and institution-based.
Today, Parents’ Forum for Differently Able Children, in association with PFDA - Vocational Training Centre, will present a special play titled ‘Alor Mukti’ based on the short story ‘Tota Kahini’ by Rabindranath Tagore at the National Theatre Hall of BSA at 6:30pm, while PTA will stage ‘Daakghar’ at the same venue.
On the other hand, Dinajpur Repertory Theatre, Sonali Theatre, and Ka Kha troupes will take the stage of the Experimental Theatre Hall with the play ‘Antoray’, ‘Padma Meghna Jamuna’ and ‘Khyatir Birambana’ respectively.
Nandan Theatre from Gazipur will stage ‘Dolna Theke Kabar’, while Rangpur Shishu Natya Kendra will stage ‘Sukhrajjya’ at the Studio Theatre Hall of BSA today.
