The education ministry yesterday (Wednesday) directed the Rajshahi education board to suspend the managing committees of 148 educational institutions for failing to return the additional money taken from students when forms were being filled for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams.
“There were allegations that educational institutions under the Rajshahi board had charged higher fees. These institutions were directed to return the additional money to the students. But 148 private educational institutions did not return the money,” a press release of the ministry said. “These institutions violated the government’s order by not answering the show-cause notice regarding the return of additional money. So, under Section 38 of managing committee/governing body rules of non-government educational institutions, the Rajshahi board chairman has been asked to reply within three days after suspending the governing body/managing committees of the 148 educational institutions,” the release said.
