Terming the Haor area of Mymensingh as very neglected and poverty-stricken, speakers at a seminar yesterday hoped that the recently established Haor Development Institute would play a vital role in solving the problems of Haor, reports BSS.
“As the Haor Development Institute has been established, the problems of Haor area could be solved through the research based activities of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU),” said BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Ali Akbar while addressing the seminar as the chief guest.
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) organized the seminar ‘Prospects and Challenges of Agricultural Production in Haor Areas of Mymensingh Agricultural Zone’ at BAU, Mymensingh, said a press release of FBCCI.
Secretary General of FBCCI Mir Shahabuddin Mohammad chaired the seminar. Dr. Sultan Uddin Bhuiyan, Professor of Agronomy Department of BAU presented the keynote paper.
Md. Masud, Director of FBCCI, Dr. Nazmul Hossain, Country Director of FNF and S M Bazlur Rahman, Vice President of Mymensingh Chamber, among others, spoke on the occasion.
