Benapole: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 26 Bangladesh nationals while they were entering the country through Putkhali frontier of Benapole early yesterday, after going to India illegally, reports UNB.
The arrestees hail from different areas of Jessore, Narail and Kushtia district.
BGB Battalion-21 camp commander Subedar Shamsur Rahman said tipped off, a team of the border
force conducted a drive
in the area in the early morning and arrested 14 women, five children and seven men while they were trying to enter Bangladesh territory during their return from India without any valid documents.
Sensing the presence of BGB, human traffickers managed to flee away.
Later, BGB troops handed them over to Benapole Port Police Station. A case was filed.
