S Korea donates 130 PCs to ICT Division

South Korea has donated 130 computers to the ICT Division for distribution among nine pourasavas of the country, aiming to close the digital gap between rural and urban areas, reports UNB. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak attended the distribution ceremony as the chief guest held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital yesterday. Korean Ambassador in Dhaka Ahn Seong-doo, ICT Division Secretary Shyam Sundar Sikder, Additional Secretary Banamali Bhoumik, BASIS President and mayors of nine municipalities also attended the function. These computers will help establish a better equipped IT Lab for ordinary people as well as government officials in each municipality, said Korean Embassy in Dhaka. The Korean envoy said the Green PC of love project was initiated under the Science, ICT and Future Planning Ministry of Korea to build ICT cooperation systems and minimise the gap in digitisation among different countries by providing PCs to developing countries.
