The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested eight more graft suspects, including the contractor who used bamboo sticks instead of iron rods in the construction of a government structure in Chuadanga, from different parts of the country in separate graft cases, reports UNB. The ACC teams detained two graft suspects on Friday, while six others yesterday from Dhaka, Jessore and Noakhali, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said. An ACC team arrested Moni Singh, contractor of Joy International, on Friday from the capital in a graft case for plundering some Tk 2.42 crore using bamboo sticks in place of iron rods in construction of a building of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) in Darshana upazila of Chuadanga. The graft case was lodged with Damurhuda Police Station in Kushtia accusing Moni Singh on April 11, 2016. The other arrestees are Sonat Kumar Bhaskar, Programme Coordinator of Jessore based Japan Bangladesh Culture Exchange Association, Shariful Islam, accountant of the association, Jalauddin.
