Registration directorate to become department: Law minister

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq yesterday said aimed at upgrading its status, the government would turn Directorate of Registration into a department and would allocate vehicles for district registrars,
reports BSS. "We would turn it as an efficient, effective, dynamic and people-oriented department by bringing all its officials under training programs. They afterwards will be able to serve the people with better services, easing the sufferings of the citizens. We would not transfer the sub-registrars during any other time of the year, except June and December," said the minister. Anisul came up with observations while addressing the inaugural function of a seven-day training program for sub-registrars at Judicial Administration Training Institute in the capital. A total of 62 sub-registrars are taking part in the training program.
"Earlier I had promised that I would arrange training programs for sub-registrars at the grassroots. Now by inaugurating this training program, I have fulfilled that promise. I would like to assure you that such training programs will continue in future," Anisul added.
Presided over by Inspector General of Directorate of Registration, Khan Md Abdul Mannan, the function was addressed by Law Secretary ASSM Zahirul Haque and LGD secretary Abdul Malek, among others.
