Admin service body demands punishment

The Bangladesh Administrative Service Association (BASA) has urged the government to ensure exemplary punishment to those involved in the assault on HM Rakib Haider, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Parshuram upazila of Feni district. The UNO was attacked on Friday allegedly by local Awami League leaders following altercations over preparations to welcome Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan in the area. In a statement issued by BASA yesterday, the association expressed its anxiety over the matter and said that such type of incident will impair the moral of the field-level officials. The injured UNO is currently receiving treatment at Feni Sadar Hospital.Meanwhile, three people including a councilor of the Parshuram Municipality have been detained in this connection.
