Abahani take on Rupganj in key DPL match today

Sports Reporter

Abahani Limited will take on Legends of Rupganj in the fifth-round encounter of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today. The match will start at 9:00am.
Abahani Limited, who formed comparatively the better and most balanced side on paper, held their pre-match day practice session at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground yesterday.
Traditional powerhouse brought wicketkeeper-batsman Manvinder Sultansingh Bisla of India in place of Uday Kaul also of India, who left Dhaka for his home after playing four group phase matches. Abahani’s newly recruit joined with the Sky-Blues’ tent and practiced with the entire contingent.
“Uday Kaul left Dhaka as we had deal for four matches with him. Another Indian player- Manvinder Bisla- has come after Kaul’s departure. Bisla will be replaced by him. Today he does practice with the entire team. Hopefully there will be no problem for him to set in the condition,” said Abahani team manager Mamun.
At Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium (KSOAS) in Fatullah, Victoria Sporting Club will compete against Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club, who is in the pole position on the point-table after the end of the fourth round games.
Both Victoria and Prime Doleshwar did their pre-match day practice at two different grounds. Victoria Sporting Club did at NCA ground and Doleshwar held it at KSOAS under the guideline of their head coach Mizanur Rahman Babul.
Prime Doleshwar is now the only team, who did not concede any loss or make any draw yet. Coach Babul told The Independent that they will get down in the field to continue their winning streak.
On the other hand, Victoria’s vice captain Suhrawardi Shuvo said that they are concentrating more on tomorrow’s game against Prime Doleshwar to bring good result from it.
“We lost the last match for our mistakes. But we’re not thinking much the result of the last match. Everything is not finished yet. We’ve some more games ahead. And so, we all are now focusing on our next game how can we do well,” said Suhrawardi Shuvo, who last played for Bangladesh in 2011.
Elsewhere at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothisthan (BKSP) Ground-3, defending champions Prime Bank Sporting Club will lock horns with Brothers Union. Bankers brought Sri Lanka Shehan Jayasuriya in place of Dilshan Munaweera, who flew for Colombo after playing four DPL matches.
