Abahanis to clash in final today

Sports Reporter

Dhaka Abahani Limited will encounter with their Port City counterparts Chittagong Abahani Limited in the final of the KFC Independence Cup football tournament today.
The match will start at 5:30pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. Bangladesh Television (BTV) will live telecast the match.
It was not easy for Dhaka Abahani to make their final berth as they had to struggle at the early stage with beginning their campaign with a 1-1 draw with Soccer Club Feni, 2-2 with Rahmatganj and 0-0 with Arambagh and only one win against BJMC by 5-0. But their semifinal victory was stunning when they just outplayed one of the top contenders Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club  6-0.
Chittagong Abahani won by 4-2 in tie-breaker against Sheikh Russel after a 1-1  draw during 120 minutes game in the other semifinal. The Port City team crossed the leg phase with an easy 2-0 win against Muktijoddha, 3-0 against Uttar Baridhara and by an identical margin victory over Brothers Union. But they conceded an embarrassing 1-5 defeat to Sheikh Russel in their group match.
It would be first final for the Chittagong Abahani in any domestic competition while Dhaka giants will play any final after five years. They last played a final of the Federation Cup in 2010 and Super Cup final in 2011 and won both the finals.
However, the veteran coach of Dhaka Abahani Amalesh Sen before their practice yesterday said that he was not depended only their three forwards Sunday, Lee Tuck and Camara.
“We are not dependable on our three foreign booters, our defense line is also very strong, we made the semifinal berth as unbeaten and had a convincing victory over Sheikh Jamal.”
Amalesh, who actually entrusted with duty after their Croatian coach went back to his country, also praised his English playmaker – Lee Andrew Tuck is a very good quality player, he can adjust with any position easily, very hard working man, can score goals and also assists others.”
The counterpart of Amalesh, Jozef Pavlik, coach of Chttagong Abhani Limited not looked so impressive when he talked about his team before the practice session at the BUET ground.
Pavlik said, We are happy with qualifying to play the match. All the teams, qualified in the final is strong, so we are definitely looking forward to win the title.”
