Chittagong: Bangladesh Road Transport Worker’s Federation will enforce a 24-hr strike on Monday in greater Chittagong to meet their six-point demand, reports UNB. The announcement came from a press conference at Press Club auditorium in the city on Friday morning, said Bangladesh Road Transport Workers’ Federation East Zone President Mrinal Chowdhury. The six-point demands included ensuring plying of CNG-run auto- rickshaws without any obstructions, stopping torture on the workers by police and stopping collection of Tk 1250 toll instead of Tk 500 from tank lorry on Meghna and Gomoti bridges. The federation members also alleged that police seized a number of unregistered auto-rickshaws and also filed cases against auto-rickshaw drivers during the last several days defying the High Court order.
