ASI Kalim remanded over �gang-rape� of female cop
A Dhaka Court yesterday placed Kalimur Rahman, an assistant sub inspector (ASI) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), on a three-day remand in connection with the alleged gang rape of her ex-wife, also a police personnel.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Meher Nigar Sultana passed the order after Inspector M Alam Miah of Detective Branch (DB) of police, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced Kalimur before the court with a 10-day remand plea.
Meanwhile, DMP Joint Commissioner Manirul Islam, at press briefing at the DMP Media Center yesterday, said the investigators have received the reports of the medical tests carried to determine whether the victim was raped.
Replying to another question, he said the co-accused of the gang rape case, are not police personnel.
The detectives of the DMP arrested ASI Kalimur, the alleged mastermind behind the gang-rape of her ex-wife, also a constable, from Coxs Bazar on Wednesday.
A team of DB nabbed Assistant Kalimur Rahman around 10am from a hotel at Kolatali of the tourist town, Inspector Kazi Matiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Coxs Bazar Sadar Police Station, told The Independent.
On June 13, the victim claimed that she was gang raped by her ex-husband and his associates at Khilgaon in the capital on June 10.
Later a case was filed with Khilgaon Police Station in this connection.
