Khaleda sued for defamation in Comilla

A Tk one crore defamation lawsuit was filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday for her ‘derogatory’ comment about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, reports UNB. Shariful Alam Chowdhury, assistant secretary of Chhatra League of Muradnagar upazila unit, filed the case against the BNP chief. Senior Judicial Magistrate of Comilla Fahad Bin Amin Chowdhury took cognisance of the case and directed the district information officer to submit a report by June 2. According to the case statement, at a rally in the city’s Suhrawardi Udyan on May 1, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia said according to a file of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), a US investigation body, 300 million USD has been in a bank account of Sajeeb Wazed Joy, also the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Adviser to the PM. The remark went on viral on internet through online news portals and social media within a very short time, causing defamation to local BCL leader Shariful Alam Chowdhury.
