Bangladesh’s e-commerce platform is rapidly expanding thanks to the fall in internet bandwith rates, said State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, reports UNB.
He said this while speaking at Bikroy.com’s membership service launching ceremony at Westin Dhaka here on Monday.
As the present government is committed to building a digital Bangladesh by 2021, a huge circle of mid-level consumers has been created, whose lifestyle demands can only be satisfied through e-commerce, Palak said.
He also highlighted how the number of internet users in the country rose from 10 lakh in 2008 to more than six crore till date.
Palak also said Bikroy.com has been fulfilling their customers’ needs by providing a strong online platform to buy and sell products and services.
With their new membership services, business owners can post more ads and watch them receive priority on the search list and other promotional strategies.
“Businesses will be able to sell their products without the additional costs of setting up a brick and mortar store and be able to reach a wider
audience with lower cost than traditional offline channels,” said Misha Ali, Director, Marketing at Bikroy.com.
While elaborating on the service, Isa Abrar Ahmed, Manager Category Management at Bikroy.com, put forth several success stories of individuals whose lives changed for the better, as part of their membership services, which had a soft launch in December last year.
Martin Malmstrom, managing director of Bikroy.com, narrated the journey of Bikroy.com and its success story as the country’s premier e-commerce platform.
Top officials from BASIS, BACCO, a2i, eCAB, DOVBCOL, BARVIDA and REHAB were present at the function.
