Gold bars, chain recovered
Customs Intelligence yesterday arrested a youth with six gold bars and gold chain worth about Tk 30 lakh from Hazrat Shahjalal ® International Airport in the capital.
Director General of Customs Intelligence Dr Mainul Khan confirmed the news. “Noor Alam, who arrived here at 12:30 am Monday night from Malaysia, was arrested with 600 grams of gold. The gold bars and chain were kept in his stomach,” he told BSS. A case was filed with Airport Police Station.

Publication ceremony
Creative publication house Oitihya is going to publish the write-ups of great poet Rabindranath Tagore in 30 parts.
The new publication of Oitihya has been edited by Syed Akram Hossain, said a press release yesterday.
The publication ceremony of 'Rabindra Rachanaboli' will be held at Shahbagh National Museum main auditorium in the capital at 5 pm today. To be presided over by Professor Emeritus Dr Anisuzzaman, the function will be attended by Kolkata Rabindra Bharati University Vice-chancellor Sabyasachi Bose Roy Chowdhury, former Vice-chancellor Prof. Pabitra Sarkar, Dhaka University English Professor Syed Manzurul Islam, Tagore song singer Prof Rezwana Chowdhury Banya and National Museum Board of Trustees President Azizur Rahman Aziz. The 22,500-page 'Rabindra Rachanaboli' is the biggest publication in Bangladesh. Oitihya has fixed the price of the whole publication at Taka 40,000. But the buyers can collect the books at discounted price of Taka 19,500 only for a limited time.

2 snatchers held with truck
Police in an overnight drive arrested two members of a criminals gang, who snatched a pepper-loaded truck from Mohakhali Flyover area injuring two businessmen and the truck driver, in the woo hours of yesterday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ashulia Police Station Mohammad Mohsin confirmed the news saying, “We recovered the truck from Kapasia area but no pepper was there as the gang sold the looted goods at Gazipur market earlier.” He said the arrestees—Arman, 20, and Abdul Karim, 25 - are being quizzed and during the preliminary interrogation they confessed their involvement in the snatching. “The criminals on boarded a pickup van waylaid the pepper-loaded truck from Mohakhali area at about 3 am and snatched the vehicle injuring two traders—Nasir Hossain, 23 and his elder brother Abdur Rashid, 37 -- and truck driver Al-Amin, 40.” They were undergoing treatment at different treatment centers.

3 killed in separate accidents
At least three persons, including a woman, were killed in separate road accidents at Sreepur and Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Molly Begum, 35, wife of Ismail Hossain of Patchgaon village under Valuka upazila in Mymensing district, Billal Hossain Khan,55, son of Farid Khan of Nolowa village under Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur district and his nephew Mobarok Hossain Khan, 32, son of Akber Ali Khan of same area.  Officer in charge of Mawna highway police station Helalul Islam said, Molly Begum was crushed under the wheels of a pick up van while crossing the Dhaka-Mymensing highway at MC Bazar at around 11.30 am.
