Newly appointed ambassador of Thailand to Bangladesh Panpimon Suwannapongse presented her credentials to President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban in capital yesterday, reports UNB
Welcoming the envoy, the president expressed satisfaction over the existing relations between Bangladesh and Thailand and hoped that the relations between the two countries would be strengthened further during her tenure. President's press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting. President Hamid requested the envoy to take initiatives so that Bangladesh can export high quality products such as pharmaceuticals, ceramics, jute goods and readymade garments to Thailand to narrow the trade gap between the two countries.
Mentioning that congenial atmosphere for investment has been prevailing in Bangladesh, he urged Thai investors to invest more in ICT, food and agriculture processing and tourism sectors. Panpimon Suwannapongse said Thailand gives due importance to its relations with Bangladesh.
The envoy said she would work to extend further the bilateral relations during her assignment in Bangladesh and sought the president’s cooperation to discharge her duties. Secretaries concerned to the president were present. Earlier, on her arrival at Bangabhaban, the envoy was given guard of honour by a contingent of the President’s Guard Regiment.
