Man held with yaba tablets
CHITTAGONG: Police arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 1,000 yaba tablets in city’s Karnaphuli Bridge area of the city early yesterday. The arrestee was identified as Sayed Alam, 40, hailing from Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar District. Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge, Bakalia police station, said acting on tip-off, a team of Bakalia police searched a bus of Star Line and recovered 1,000 yaba tablets from possession of Alam and arrested him. A case was lodged in this connection.  
Woman dies from snakebite
RAJSHAHI: A woman died after receiving snakebite at Farhadpur village in Godagari upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Sarida Begum, 40, wife of Ruhul Amin, a resident of the village.
Family members said a venomous snake bit Sarida when she was working in the kitchen in the afternoon.
Later, she was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared her dead.
Students protest fee hike
RANGPUR: Students of Carmichael College brought out a procession on the campus on Wednesday to protest
the fee hike for the form fill up of Masters final ear
examination.
Later, a protest rally was held also held in front of
the administrative building. The speakers said the
college authorities running their business in the name of the education and every year they arbitrarily increasing fees. Abu Raihan Bakshi, president of Samajtantrik Chattra Front, Carmichael College unit, Prodeep Roy, President of Chattra Union, Carmichael College Unit, Robiul Islam Roni, general secretary, Chattra Front, Carmichael College Unit, addressed the rally among others.
