21 members of doping gang held
Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police in special drive arrested 21 members of a doping gang from different parts of the capital on Wednesday night. Talking to The Independent, Jahangir Alam, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of DMP, said getting secret information, detectives arrested them from Jatrabari, Shahbagh, Dhaka University, High Court areas of the capital. They also seized different types of sedative medicine, including Dormicum, Milam, Ativan tablets, Lorazepam tablets, and several books of Hamdard Laboratories during the drive, the second in command of DMP Media said. During the primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they used sedative medicine to make the victims unconscious and later looted their valuables for long time. Later, executive magistrate Md Moshiur Rahman of mobile court sentenced 12 members of the gang to two years jail, six members to one year jail while three members to six months jail.
