About nine tonnes of flour and same amount of rice under the government's Open Market Sale (OMS) programme are being sold every day except Saturday through its 11 sale centers in the town, said sources in the district Food Department office, reports BSS. The government has been conducting the OMS programme in the municipality area in a bid to control high market prices and help feed the poor at a lower price. Each of the consumers is allowed to purchase 5 kg of atta and 5 kg of rice from the centre at the rate of Taka 17 and Taka 15 respectively. Asaduzzaman, a dweller of Narail Municipality, said the government had created positive impacts to the poor as they were purchasing atta and rice from the centres at a reasonable price fixed by the government.
