Twenty-eight members of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) were injured in a road accident in Chaymail area on Barisal-Dhaka highway under airport police station of Barisal metropolitan yesterday morning. Police and local sources said the accident took place in the area around 7am when a police bus carrying the members of the force collided head-on with a truck and hit a roadside tree, leaving all the policemen inside injured. The APBn members met the accident while going to Gopalganj from Barisal for performing duty ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit on Saturday there, said the official. The injured were rushed to Barisal Sher e Bangla Medical College Hospital. Condition of the two injured, including Sultan Mahmud and Al Imran, is critical, said on duty doctor. SI Zalal Ahmed, one of the injured, said after the accident driver of the bus fled from the spot. Md Ali Ahmed, Inspector of APBN, said that no firearm was lost during accident.
