BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday expressed deep concern over the killings of USAID official Xulhaz Mannan and his friend Mahbub Rabbi Tonoy, and prison guard of Kashimpur jail Rustom Ali.
In a statement signed by BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi,
she accused the government of spinning unbelievable tales about each killing and fooling the country for its own interests.
“Murders of several people from different communities and foreigners have been going on in the country for some time. They (the government) are trying to shift the burden of responsibility to the Opposition to hide the real perpetrators,” read the statement.
Khaleda said the government cannot hang on to power without violence and killings. She claimed that the safety of people, human rights, voting rights, election, democracy, peace, relief and security now rest in the “hearses.”
