860 tubewells to be set up in Jamalpur

Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) has taken up a programme to set up 860 semi-deep tubewells in different primary schools in the district to supply safe drinking water to the students round the year, reports BSS.
In dry season ground water level goes down and normal tube wells turn inoperative and the semi-deep tube wells supply water in all times.
DPHE official said of the total 207 tube wells will be installed in Sadar upazila, 58 tubewells in Sarishabari, 126 tube wells in Islampur, 133 tubewells in Melandaha, 114 tube wells in Dewanganj, 135 tube wells in Madarganj and 87 tube wells in Bakshiganj upazila in the district.
