A retired Bangladesh army member was killed by slighting throat by miscreants at Pirbari in the district town on Monday night, reports UNB.
The deceased identified as Bahar Sakra, 45, a resident of Phulbaria area of the town, hailed from Birgaon village of Nabinagar upazila.
Locals said a group of miscreants attacked Bahar on a lane in Pirbari area around 10:00pm and killed him by slitting throat.
Later, locals caught a man, Mamun, while he was trying to flee the scene, and handed him over to police.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar police station Mainur Rahman said they were looking into the matter.
He might have been killed over money- related dispute, the OC added.
