Saif, Salman centuries go in vain

Sports Reporter

Saif Hassan and Salman Hossain’s centuries went in vain when Cricket Coaching School conceded defeat to Prime Bank Cricket Club by just four runs in the keenly contested second round clash of the Dhaka Premier League at BKSP-3 yesterday.
Elsewhere at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club routed Kalabagan Krira Chakra by four runs in the exciting last over clash of the DPL.
Prime Bank vs CCS
Defending champion Prime Bank Cricket Club batted first to put on 257 in 48.3 overs, after which Cricket Coaching School managed to score 252 for seven in 50 overs.
Although Prime Bank made a solid start scoring 53 runs for the opening partnership but they lost five wickets in the space of 42 runs. At this stage, Taibur Rahman in association with Yasir Ali struck an invaluable 106-run for the sixth wicket, which surpassed a 200-run mark. Before being bowled by Mohammad Saifuddin, Yasir Ali brought up his 53-run off 67 that studded with half-a-dozen fours.
Later, Taibur Rahman extended the score with his fellow batsmen but none could provide ably support to him as wickets were tumbling at regular interval. Taibur was the ninth batsmen to fall. He smashed 76 off 72, clobbering four fours and one six as well.
Chasing the target of 258, Cricket Coaching School lost their openers-Uttam Sarkar and Pinak Ghosh, cheaply. But Saif Hassan made a steely resistance against Prime Bank’s bowlers with the help of Salman Hossain after 13-2. The duo cracked a valuable 195-run for the third wicket, which gave a glimmer of hopes in CCS’s dug-out.
Saif Hassan clubbed three sixes and seven boundaries in his 129-ball century, while Salman Hossain struck 110 off 137 that stacked with eight fours and three sixes.
Prime Doleshwar vs Kalabagan KC
Riding on Nasir Hossain’s 97 and Imtiaz Hossain, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club piled up 287 for eight in 50 overs. Doleshwar icon Nasir Hossain, who missed his century just for three runs, stroked 11 fours and one six in his 75-ball innings. Imtiaz Hossain made 73 off 81 that featured with eight fours and one six before being dismissed.
Rakibul Hasan (34) and skipper Forhad Reza (47) were the other mentionable scorers for Prime Doleshwar.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza scalped three wickets for 50. Abdur Razzak and Dewan Sabbir took a brace each for Kalabagan.
In reply, Kalabagan Krira Chakra could not keep the momentum that they started at the initial stage as their five batsmen were run out. Mehrab Hossain Jr paired with fellow batsman Tanvir Haider and hit 104-run for the sixth wicket. Mehrab fell for 84, where he hit 9 fours and one six.
