DSEX plunges below 4,300-point mark

The broader price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) plunged below 4300-point mark yesterday amid falling share prices across the board, reports BSS.
Out of the day's 317 traded issues, 191 incurred loss and 78 gained when 48 closed flat.
The majority of the losing securities were from the large-cap group that drove the price indices down.
The DSEX lost nearly 40 points to close at 4281.93 after breaking the 4300-point mark. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also sunk to 1647.00 and 1044.75 respectively.
Similarly, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) suffered major fall on the day with its CSCX sinking by nearly 62 points to 8015.29.
Out of the 237 traded issues, only 57 closed higher against 154 losing securities when 84.81 lakh shares changed hands for Tk 22 crore.
The major losers were mostly from bank and insurance, with EBL, Beach Hatchery, ISN Limited, BNICL and NCCB being the top five losing securities.
The major gainers were Monno Stafflers, Renwick, Monno Ceramic, Libra Infusion and Exim 1stMF.
The daily transaction, however, increased on selling spree when the trade value rose to Tk 343.65 crore and the volume to 8 crore shares from Monday's Tk 331.28 crore for 7.10 shares.
BSRM Limited topped the turnover lists followed by UPGDCL, MJLBD, Doreen Power and Keya Cosmetic.
Earlier on Monday, the boarder DSEX index of DSE finished the day 16.61 points down at 4321.62, with the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES followed it to close at 1658.53 and 1053.62 respectively.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day in red, with its major CSCX index closing over 25 points down at 8077.25.
