6 more corruption suspects arrested

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday arrested six graft suspects, including three bank officials, from different parts of the country in separate graft cases.
ACC deputy director Sheikh Abdus Salam arrested manager of Rupali Bank’s Shikaripara branch (Nababganj) Farid Ahmed and former senior officer of the same branch Abdus Salam from the capital in a graft case filed against them for allegedly swindling over Tk 21 lakh, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
ACC assistant director of Chittagong office HM Rahmat Ullah detained owner of Cargo Movers and Packers Abdul Awal and its customs agent Abul Hashem for reportedly laundering money about Tk 14 lakh by preparing fake documents.
On April 23, 2015, the national anti-graft body filed a money-laundering case against them with Bandar Police Station in Chittagong.
The ACC investigators also apprehended manager of Shahjalal Islami Bank (Joypara branch) Mizanur Rahman from Dhaka and Shahjahan Ali Mollah from Jessore on graft charges. On Monday, the ACC arrested eight people in separate corruption cases filed against them by the national anti-graft body.
