�Build up new generations with technical knowledge�

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday said the government is working to reshuffle the technical education to make the new generations skilled manpower to build up a middle income country by 2021.
 “At present there are 10.56 crore working people in the country, which means 66 per cent. It will be 70 per cent by 2030. It’s a great opportunity. We have to build up the new generations with technical knowledge for national development,” he said.
The minister said while addressing the two-day long workshop on ‘Industry-Institute Linkage’ organised by Directorate of Technical Education, with its director General Ashok Kumar Biswas in the chair.
“Only Certificates will not function in today’s world. Skill is necessary here. We need quality of work. Those who will achieve world class skill will get the doors open in the whole world,” the minister said.  
Among others, project director of Skill and Training Enhancement Project Md Imran, chairman of Bangladesh Technical Education Board Dr Md Mostafizur Rahman, World Bank senior operations officer Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman, spoke on the occasion.
The workshop will discuss on various aspects of the improving technical education across the country.
