CHITTAGONG: The classes and examinations of the Chittagong Veterinary Animal Science University (CVASU) will resume on Wednesday after a 14-day closure following a series of clashes between two groups of students over playing of cricket on its campus.
Khalilur Rahman, Deputy Director, Public Relation of CVASU told BSS that the university authority took the decision to reopen the varsity in a meeting held on Sunday noon with CVASU vice-chancellor Prof Dr Goutom Buddha Das in the chair.
The meeting decided that the dormitories of the CVASU will reopen from today (Monday) and imposed a ban on eight students of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries faculties from entry and residing in the dormitories for their involvement with clashes on April 12 last.
Meanwhile, the university authorities also imposed ban on holding all kinds of rallies, processions and gathering in and around the campus in order to maintain peace and congenial academic atmosphere on the campus as well as interest of the students.
CVASU sources said at least six students were injured in a series of clashes between the students of Veterinary Medicine Faculty and Fisheries Faculty of the university over playing of cricket on the campus on April 12.
