Two left leaning student bodies progressive Students’ Alliance and Anti-Imperialist Students’ Union will observe a half-day hartal today (Monday) demanding justice for the killing of Comilla Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu said a press release yesterday.
Leaders and activists of the leftist student organisations will gather at the capital’s Sahabagh interaction in the morning as well as students will also be present at different important interactions of the city to succeed their half day hartal.
Besides, activist of progressive Students’ Alliance and Anti-Imperialist Students’ Union will be present at the Upazila and districts across the country supporting the hartal.
Thirteen political parties, including Communist Party of Bangladesh, Socialist Party of Bangladesh and Ganashanghati Andolan, expressed solidarity with the hartal.
However, co- coordinator of the Progotishil Chhatra Jote Ashraful Alam Sohel urged general people of the country to come forward to support their programme.
Earlier on April 7, the two left leaning student bodies threatened to go for a half-day hartal on April 25 if the government failed to arrest the killers of Tonu by April 24.
