RAJSHAHI: The regional office of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institutions (BSTI) fined owners of four food shops Tk 12,000 in the metropolis yesterday for selling of substandard and adulterated foods and other consumers items, reports BSS. According to the officials concerned, the BSTI in cooperation with the district administration conducted mobile court in different areas of the city. The court led by an executive magistrate lodged separate cases against the four owners of a confectionary and stationary shops on charges of possessing and selling of substandard, unhygienic and date expired items together with violation of BSTI rules and regulations.
The shops are— New Bishal Food Corner, Mithai Bazar, Rajshahi Misty Bari and Khuku Moni Confectionary in Luxmipur More and Kasiadanga areas.
The court realised Tk 12,000 from the shop owners as fined money and disposed of the cases on the spot.
