Eyes growth in tax, cyber security, government, digital and infrastructure advisory

PwC opens Dhaka office

PricewaterhouseCoopers (trading as PwC), a London-based multinational professional services network, has opened its office in the capital further leveraging the opportunity to partner Bangladesh in its journey in the areas of advisory and taxation.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith yesterday formally inaugurated the new office in Gulshan-1 in the capital.  PwC has a network of firms in 158 countries including Bangladesh with more than 208,000 people who are committed to delivering quality in assurance, advisory and tax services.
Mamun Rashid has been appointed as the partner in-charge of PwC Bangladesh. Rashid with an experience of 30 years has worked across several financial entities in Bangladesh and abroad such as ANZ Grindlays, Citibank NA and Standard Chartered Bank.
“Our primary work is to support the government on reforms and infrastructure projects, lending and offering our advices on PPP projects and advocate government or the private sector in adjusting with the new technology,” said Mamun Rashid.
“The major challenge of many institutions is to cope with the new technologies,” he said.
“We have already started working with large business houses in Dhaka and Chittagong for technology improvement, operation, solution building, organisational realignment and efficiency improvement,” he added.
Deepak Kapoor, Chairman, PwC Bangladesh, said: “We see immense potential in several areas, particularly in tax advisory, forensics, cyber-security government, digital and infrastructure.”
“We look forward to playing a greater role in improving the quality of life of the people of Bangladesh, being able to open new opportunities for local businesses as well as the local talented work force,” he added.
He said during the next five years 500 Bangladeshi will be employed by PwC as professionals, who will help solving critical business problems.
