Rajshahi: A mobile court here on Wednesday sentenced the owner of a poultry farm to three months’ jail for causing environmental pollution at Fulbari Bazar in Puthia upazila, reports UNB.
The convict Sun Mohammad Kalu, 60, is vice-president of Bhalukgachhi union unit of Awami League.
Kalu’s poultry farm at Fulbari Bazar had been causing widespread environmental pollution through spread of chicken wastes hither and thither for several years. Based on allegation, police arrested Kalu around 4pm and produced him before a mobile court. Later, executive magistrate M Nuruzzaman, who conducted the court, convicted Kalu and sentenced him to three months’ imprisonment.
