A weeklong exhibition on ‘Ikebana and Oshibana Arts’ is now on display at the Nalinikanta Bhattasali Gallery of Bangladesh National Museum (BNM), Shahbag in the city.
Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement. It is more than simply putting flowers in a container. It is a disciplined art form in which the arrangement is a living thing where nature and humanity are brought together. It is steeped in the philosophy of developing closeness with nature.
To make known Ikebana to all, Bangladesh National Museum, in collaboration with Ikebana International, Dhaka and Flower Club Bangladesh, has organised the exhibition.
Presided over by Chairman of BNM Board of Trustees M Azizur Rahman, artist Kazuyo Hosomi Zoha, President, Ikebana International, Dhaka presented the concept profile of the exhibition in the inaugural session on Tuesday, while eminent artist Mostafa Monwar and life patron of Bangladesh Ikebana Association (BIA) Dr AKM Moazzem Hussain were present as special guests.
The exhibition is open to all every day from 9:30am to 5:30pm, 2:30pm to 7:30pm on Friday until April 25. Closed on Thursday.
