The two-day "Bangladesh Denim Expo" will begin next week in the capital city Dhaka to promote the country as the prime destination for sourcing latest designs of jeans and other denim products, says a press release.
A total of 49 companies from 13 countries will participate in the exhibition to be held at the Bashundhara International Convention City on April 25-26.
The participating countries included Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Pakistan, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam.
The host of the expo, Chittagong-based Denim Expert Limited, is expecting around 4,000 visitors and nearly 900 companies at the flagship annual event.
"Bangladesh denim expo is a non-profit, non-government organisation, which envisioned to act as a hub where all the people who matter in the denim world can get together and bond on the common factor of denim," the organiser said in the brochure of the fourth edition of the expo.
It also said the expo is an international platform for showcasing the entire value chain from all aspects of jeans wear and aiming to fulfill the needs of the international denim community.
The organiser also expects that this year's expo would showcase the most innovative trends and techniques that would rule the denim world for the next seasons.
On the sideline of the expo, six seminars will be organised on focusing some important issues, including current trend in denim industries and Bangladesh prospect for the industry over the next five years.
Industry experts and panel discussants will share their experience on the issues and will put forward some recommendations for improving further the denim industries here.
According to a document of the organiser, at present the denim industry consists of 26 denim fabric manufacturers, producing around 360 million yards a year.
The country was the second largest exporter to the EU denim market in 2014, with shipping denim product worth 932.86 million euro.
