Youth dies after jumping off RAB vehicle

A youth died after jumping off a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) pickup van, in the Veraiderchala area of Sreepur in Gazipur. He was identified as Rasel, 20, son of Mohammad Ali of Gararon in Sreepur.
The officer-in-charge of Mawna Highway Police Station, Helalul Islam, said: “Rasel was accused in an abduction and murder case registered with Sreepur Police Station."
He said an RAB team detained him around 5am yesterday. He admitted to his involvement in the abduction and murder.
Later, RAB members went to arrest the other accused, taking Rasel with them. When their vehicle reached Veraiderchala on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, Rasel tried to flee by jumping off the vehicle. He died on the spot.
