Biman to recruit new pilots for 4 aircraft

UNB

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has decided to induct to recruit some First Officers on contractual basis for its four 737-800 aircraft, reports UNB.
“Initially, the contracts will be for one year with the scope to extend it,” a senior Biman official told the news agency wishing not to be named.
He also said the airliner currently has a plan to recruit more or less a dozen of fresh First Officers. “We’ve decided to go for the recruitment from Bangladeshi nationals only,” he said.
According to the recruitment document, eligible candidates must have valid commercial pilot licence issued or endorsed by Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) with 1000:00 hours in Multi Engine Commercial Flying experience. The age of the candidates must not be more than 40 years. Another Biman official said although the hiring is just for one year initially it would be extended further if everything goes well and later some of them might get the permanent job.
Meanwhile, Biman has decided to add at least two Boeing aircraft to its fleet, aiming to tackle its aircraft shortage after the phase-out of its decades-old two Airbus aircraft, under dry lease.
If Biman finds 777-200 or 777-200ER then it will try to get two aircraft and one 777-300ER. If the two 777-200 or 777-200ER are not available, then Biman will induct another 737-800 along with one 777-300ER.
One 777-200/777-200ER/777-300ER will be pressed into service in between March and June, while 777-200/777-200ER in between November and December. If the airliner takes the 737-800, then it will be put into operation in between March and June.
According to Biman sources, 11 companies have expressed their interest to provide the aircraft. The ‘proposal open committee’ of the state-run airliner after its work will submit the proposals to the Techno Finance Sub Committee, which is also known as evaluation committee. The evaluation committee after reviewing all the proposals and inspecting the aircrafts will submit their recommendations to the Biman Board for the final decision.
