KHULNA: Khulna Divisional Inland Water Transport Owners Association and Mongla Port Users Coordination Committee here at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon demanded to withdraw ban on vessels movement and reopen immediately for plying it’s in the Shela River route of the Sundarbans, reports BSS.
The Secretary General of Inland Water Transport Owners Group and Mongla Port Users Coordination Committee Advocate Md Saiful Islam made the demand at a conference at the Khulna Press Club on Tuesday.
Advocate Saiful while demanding intervention of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to deal with this issue keeping in a view the economic interest of Mongla Port, Mills and Shrimp Factories of the South-Western region of the country said that Shela River is the only route for transportation of different goods such as fertilizers, agro-products, raw materials for mills and factories, food grains, consumer goods and machinery parts needed for development works.
Leaders of the two organisations, among others, attended at the conference.
