4 get life term for killing woman in Gazipur

A Gazipur court yesterday convicted four men and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for killing a woman.
Mohammed Iqbal Hossain, Judge of Additional District and Session Judge Court of Gazipur, handed down the verdict. The judge also fined Tk 10,000 each of convicted in the same time.
The convicted were identified as Saiful Islam, 40, son of Anwar Uddin of Chandpara area of the city, Delwar Hossain, 41, son of Malek Sarker, Khalilur Rahman, 43, son of Joynal Abedin of the same area and Masud, 42, son of Abdus Sattar of Koddanandon area of the city.
According to the prosecution story, Aleya Begum, mother-in-law of Saiful Islam, was living at the residence of Saiful.
Saiful and some of his associates strangled Aleya over a family dispute on October 30 in 1994.
A day after the incident, victims brother Abul Hossain filed a case with Joydebpur police station against the four men in this connection.
Police later arrested them and they also admitted about their involvement with the incident. Investigation officer of Joydebpur police station submitted the chargesheet against them on September 5 in 1995.
After examining the records and witnesses, the judge handed down the verdict.
