River vessel workers strike from tonight

River vessel workers will go on a countrywide work abstention from midnight today to press home their 15-point demand, reports UNB. The decision was taken at an emergency meeting held at Barisal unit office of Bangladesh Launch Workers’ Association on Tuesday, said a press release signed by senior joint secretary of the unit Md Ekin Ali Master. Workers of all types of river vessels, including passenger launch, cargo vessel, postal vessel, tanker, sand cargo, dredger and shallow tanker, will observe the work abstention.
