Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif yesterday stressed the need for resolving vested property related problems quickly, reports BSS from Sylhet.
“The vested property issue is a crisis for the government and the nation. This problem must be resolved. There is no scope to fail in this regard,” he said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of a daylong workshop for taxation officers on vested property at local district council auditorium here.
The minister said the vested property related problems would be solved in the way the trials of the killers, looters and rapists of 1971 are being held.
State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury attended the function as special guest while Sylhet divisional commissioner Jamal Uddin Ahmed was in the chair.
Land ministry officials, all additional deputy commissioners (Revenue) of Sylhet division, zonal settlement officers, deputy land reform commissioners, revenue deputy collectors and other government officials concerned took part in the workshop.
The minister said the Liberation War ended in 1971 but the spirit and expectations of the war could not be implemented till now.
Shamsur Rahman Sharif said there were many discussions and debates over the Vested Property Act in parliament and it was amended. But expectations of the people and the government over the law are yet to be fulfilled, he added.
He advised the officers to go to the deputy commissioners and divisional commissioners in case of any complication over vested property.
