Indefinite bus strike has been called off yesterday evening from all the seven internal routes after 32 hours. Sources said that after a meeting of divisional police administration both the group called off their strike at 6pm .
DIG Barisal Md. Humayun Kabir called both the bus owner associations of Barisal and Jhalakathi with transport workers in his office and made a negotiation among them. Both the Barisal and Jhalakathi bus minibus owners and workers associations later held a joint meeting and called off the strike at 6pm.
Barisal-Patuakhali Bus Minibus Owners and Workers Associations on Sunday morning enforced strike on seven routes of Barisal protesting attack on a bus driver and a helper allegedly by a section of transport workers over silly matter.
Hundreds of people in Barisal suffered as owners and workers of buses began an strike yesterday halting passenger travel on seven routes.
Sufferings mounted when passengers realised that there was no scheduled bus between Barisal and other routes in the morning.
