ACC arrests 14 graft suspects

As its crackdown on corrupt elements is going on, the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday arrested 14 more graft suspects, including bank officials and government officials, from different parts of the country in separate cases.
An ACC team, led by deputy director Zahirul Huda, arrested former administrative officer of Jessore Housing Estate from Karbala Road of the town in a graft case filed by the Commission, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
ACC deputy director Jahangir Alam arrested former officer of Phulbaria branch (Mymensingh) of Ruplali Bank Morshed Alam, chairman of Rambadrapur Union Parishad Md Rokunuzzaman, upzila project implementation officer Mohammd Shafiqul Islam and retired assistant engineer of Power Development Board Maidul Islam in separate cases for allegedly misappropriating public money.
Another ACC team, led by its director Nasim Anwar, arrested suspended Rajuk official Md Safir Uddin Akand from the capitals Segunbagicha area for allegedly acquiring illegal wealth worth Tk 1.65 crore. Besides, ACC investigation officers also arrested Monirul Haque of Comilla, Khaled Saifullah of Dhaka, cashier of a CGA Cooperatives Abdul Qauder, vice-president of Agrani Commerce and Finance Multipurpose Society Limited MA Sattar, former senior centre manager of Grameen Bank Abdul Wahab, Shakil Ahmed of Orion Air Services and businessman Naimul Islam of Chittagong in separate graft cases.
The national anti-graft body also arrested at least 10 people, including three government officials, from different parts of the country in separate graft cases on Sunday and Monday last.
