Hyderabad beat Mumbai to post 1st win

Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated the Mumbai Indians by seven wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium last night, posting their first win of the season. Sunrisers Captain David Warner smashed an unbeaten 90 off 59 balls to help his side chase a modest target of 143 set by Mumbai, who have now lost three out of four matches, report agencies. Both teams desperately needed a win, having started slowly in the tournament. Warner won the toss and chose to let his bowlers make first use of a surface that had some grass on it. The decision seemed to be the right one as Mumbai lost wickets at regular intervals in the first half of the innings. None of their batsmen were able to build partnerships, until Ambati Rayudu and all-rounder Krunal Pandya came together with the score at 60/4 in the 11th over. The two compiled a 63-run partnership for the fifth wicket, with Pandya going for the shots and Rayudu mixing a bit of aggression with caution. Rayudu was to fall in the 18th over for a well-made 54 off 49 balls to left-arm pacer Barinder Sran, who bowled beautifully for his 3/28.
Bangladesh pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman booked one wicket for 32. Pandya remained unbeaten on 49 off 28 balls to take his team to 142/6, but it wasn't to be enough. Mumbai needed their bowlers to turn up if they had any chance of a win, but unfortunately for the defending champions it was only Tim Southee (3/24) who troubled the hosts. Hyderabad strolled home with 15 balls to spare, with Warner wreaking havoc and finally giving the home fans something to cheer about.
