Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque yesterday said police arrested journalist Shafik Rehman as they have clear evidence of his involvement in the conspiracy to abduct and kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, reports UNB. "We wouldn’t have arrested Shafik Rehman had he not been involved in the plot,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at the 4th founding anniversary of the Criminology Department of Dhaka University at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury auditorium on the DU campus. The IGP also said those criticising the arrest of Shafik Rehman in TV talk-shows should know police do not arrest anyone who has no involvement in any incident. He lambasted the media, saying they are trying to exaggerate the issue as they have no accountability these days.
