Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said here yesterday that all the state-run sugar mills will be made self-reliant to make those profitable, reports BSS.
Addressing a rally of sugarcane growers here at Madhukhali Sugar Mill High School ground, the minister said all the stakeholders including laborers, workers and sugarcane growers must work together to make those self-reliant.
With Chairman of Bangladesh Sugar and food Industries Corporation AKM Delwar Hossain in the chair, it was addressed, among others, by Abdur Rahman, MP, district Awami League president Advocate Subal Chandra Saha, Madhukhali upazila Awami League secretary Mirza Maniruzzaman Bachchu, Workers Party leader Manoj Kumar Saha, Aakh Chashi Federation general secretary Shahjahan Ali Badsha, sugar mill labor leaders Atiar Rahman and Hamidur Rahman.
Industries Minister said the present government has made the country in food autarky by giving subsidy to the farmers.
Similarly by giving incentives to jute mills and sugar mills those will be made profitable, he said.
To make MadhuKhali Sugar Mill a profitable one, a project to produce bio-gas and organic fertilizer will be taken up along with producing sugar, he added.
