A proposal has been made to hike the salaries and remuneration of MPs from Tk. 27,500 to Tk. 55,000. A bill in this connection is scheduled to be passed in the next session of Parliament. It was decided at a meeting of the standing committee on the law, justice and parliamentary affairs ministry at Sangsad Bhavan that the office expenditure of MPs would be raised by Tk. 6,000. The complexities related to the Member of Parliament (Remuneration and Allowances [Amendment]) Act, 2016, were resolved yesterday.
