All four president candidates for the upcoming election of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) have submitted their nomination papers yesterday.
The date of withdrawal of the nomination papers has been fixed for 19-20 April while the scrutiny, appeal and hearing date on April 19 while the final list of the candidates will be published on April 21 and the election will take place on April 30.
A total of 58 nomination papers were submitted for 21 posts.
Led by Kazi Mohammed Salahuddin a 22-member panel was submitted followed by Manzur Kader led panel submitted a 19-member list with Kamrul Ashfraf Puton as the president candidate while Golam Rabbani Helal and Nurul Islam Nuru submitted their president candidature papers individually.
After submitting the nomination papers, Abdus Salam Murshedi, senior vice-president of BFF, in his immediate reaction said, “Led by Salahuddin Bhai we submitted our panel list, any election can be challenging.”
“In last eight years, in our two terms, we organized so many domestic and international competitions and also participated in the international competitions. I agree in all sectors we were not success but overall we did a lot to continue all domestic league and tournaments.” “Now the councillors will evaluate our success and failures but we tried our best for the betterment of country’s football,” said Salam.
Vice-president Badal Roy thinks that among the four president candidates, Kazi Salahuddin is the best and his panel is also the best.
“I think led by Salahuddin Bhai, our panel is the best. Anything can be happened in election, voters will decide who will be elected.”
About the four president candidates, Badal Roy said, “If I tell you neutrally that among president candidates Salahuddin Bhai is the best. If you justify the works of previous times, I have to say impartially that Salahuddin Bhai is the fittest candidate for the post of BFF president.”
About himself, Badal Roy said, “There is a common idea that the vice-presidents post are not so valuable, their right is very limited to do something. But in the last few years I proved that vice-presidents have also so many things to do and it is a very valuable post to take part in the development process.”
Manzur Kader, who submitted nomination papers for the post of senior vice-president, introduced the president candidates Kamrul Ashraf Puton from their panel. Kader in his address to the reporters said, “Today we are bound to submit a panel to contest in the BFF election.”
“Our panel is under the banner of “Save the Football” and Kamrul Ashraf Puton is the candidate for the president. He is successful businessman came from the grass roots. We selected him to contest for the post of president to bring the football ahead.”
Besides Manzur Kader, Dewan Shariful Arifin Ttutul, Ashraf Ahmed Chunnu, Khorshed Alam Babul and Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan are the heavyweight candidates from their panel.
Tutul, one of the former football stars, who was also one of the very influential directors of Bangladesh Cricket Board said, “It’s my late decision to compete in the BFF election, I came here after knowing everything.”
“My first duty will be to bring transparency in the administration, to bring players from grass roots. I hope I will win. But I have no magic in my hands to do anything miracle but I believe I will be able to go ahead and bring the football to a certain place with my team, said Tutul.”
