RANGPUR: Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury yesterday said the social safety net programmes have reduced the extent of poverty substantially during the tenure of the present government, reports BSS. “The present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been implementing massive programmes for improving life standard of people and national development,” she said at a ceremony at Pirganj Upazila Parishad premises here as the chief guest.
The Speaker inaugurated the ‘Training on Handicrafts and Cottage Industry and Providing Input Assistance Project’ and distributed identity cards among disabled people, seeds and fertilisers as incentives for Aus rice cultivation among 365 small and marginal farmers and agri-machineries among beneficiaries of the ‘Ensuring food and nutrition through integrated agricultural development project’ there.
