NAOGAON: A total of fifty power tillers were distributed among 50 farmers of Niamatpur upazila of Naogaon on Tuesday at a subsidized rate aiming to boost agricultural production in the district, reports BSS.
Sadan Chandra Majumder, local lawmaker and general secretary of Naogaon district Awami League unit, distributed the power tillers among the farmers at a simple ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion he said the present government is farmer-friendly. Considering the problems faced by the peasants, the government has paid 30 percent of the total value of the power tillers under a government subsidy programme.
He urged the farmers to properly utilise the power tillers to increase the overall crop production.
Upazila chairman Alhaj Enamul Huq, UNO Selim Hossain, vice-chairmen Alhaj Liakat Ali and Manowar Begum, agricultural official Fatema kowsar and elites of the town were present on the occasion.
