Abahani Limited made another draw in the KFC Independence Cup football tournament when Arambagh KS forced the title contenders to share points in a goalless drawn match yesterday at the Bangubandhu National Stadium.
Abahani despite failed to win the match but still on the semifinal race as they have two matches left to play and are in the second position of Group B with five points behind the table toppers Sheikh Russel with 10 points.
Arambagh Krira Sangha after halting title contenders Abahani Limited could manage only four points from their all five encounters and they were just eliminated from the competition.
Meanwhile, Rahmatganj and Team BJMC are just one point behind Abahani and each has one match left to play.
Might be Abahani will be finally able to make their room in the last fours but on a slim threat as they have to cross the hurdle of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra and Rahmatganj and from these two matches they will need at least  three more points.
However, on the day the Sky Blue, despite started the match with huge pace but failed to keep the momentum as Arambagh also made huge challenge throughout 90 minutes.
Abahani also saw a big setback when they were reduced to a ten-man team after their key performer Lee Tuck saw a straight red card on 41st minute. The English booter kicked an Arambagh player without the ball and referee did not miss to see the incident which prompted him to give marching order.
After losing Lee, Abahani could not dominate the match with full authority, though they were  better in ball possession but Arambagh tried to fight evenly.
Abahani could produce one real chance to score  but a free kick of Sunday Chizoba shattered the cross piece on 58th minute.
Arambagh also went closer to make a half chance from which they have a goal but from a combined move Abu Sufian’s effort went straight to goalkeeper on 79th minute.
